The Art
This series of truck paintings began with photographs taken on a trip to Maine. I became fascinated with the colors in the fading paint, the rust overlay, and areas of sad deterioration. Non-working trucks are often left where their engines quit.
To me the trucks became metaphors for the lives of people like my grandparents- strong and stalwart., but worn down by time and hard work. I call these trucks Proud Survivors.
Through the creative and artistic process I have been through and explored, I hope to have given a soul to these pieces of manufactured machinery.
